A total of 5 migrants were shot with one severely wounded during a major fight in Calais, France late last night.
It’s understood that many of those involved were aged 15 – 18 years old. The BBC printed the above photo showing migrants with batons, bars and sticks ready to fight.
At least 13 other young migrants were badly injured in the fight which French authorities said took quite some time to get under control.
It’s still not known who actually let off the gunfire during the mass brawl.
France’s interior minister said he would make an urgent visit to the area.
“After today’s serious incidents I shall be heading for Calais tonight to take stock of the situation with the prefect, the mayor and local players,” Gerard Collomb tweeted.
Calais has been a pressure cooker for fights among migrants and even locals, but nothing as severe as the brawl that took place last night and has been reported around the world.
