Android users warned about a dangerous malware that has been downloaded over 2 million times hidden in Google Play Store




Android users across the globe have been warned to careful when it comes to downloading apps in the future.

The warning comes after dangerous malware which has infected over 2 million devices was discovered inside 45 game guide apps on Google’s official Play store.

It is understood the malware which was present in a number of apps was placed in the Play Store for five months between 2016 and early this year.

According to security programme researchers Check Point, the infected app can enable hackers to take ‘remote control’ of devices.

The security group also say any infected app cannot be removed and has been used to infect an individuals phone or tablet with bogus, illegal adverts in user’s devices.

A Check Point spokesman explained: “Depending on the attackers objectives, these modules can contain highly malicious code intended to root the device, conduct a DDoS attack, or even penetrate private networks.”
