Tech giant Apple has paid a first installment of €1.5bn into an escrow account managed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management on behalf of the Irish Government.
The total amount owed, €13bn, will be paid in installments, as agreed.
The figure is disputed by both the Irish Government and Apple, who are appealing the ruling made by the European Commission stating that Apple received preferential treatment in the form of low taxes.
