Breast Cancer Developments: Researchers seek Irish volunteers to take part in global trial

Ireland will be apart of a new global trial to test a new treatment for early stage breast cancer.

Researchers are seeking 50 Irish women to take part in the trial at six hospitals across Cork, Waterford and Dublin.

Professor Bryan Hennessy, Clinical Lead at Cancer Trials Ireland says patients interested in taking part should ask their Medical Oncologist about the ‘Pallas Trial’.

Prof. Hennessy stated: “We at Cancer Trials Ireland are running the Irish part of the trial and we are looking for approximately 50 Irish patients with breast cancer to take part, it is for early stage breast cancer.

“We are using a new exciting drug called palbociclib that we now know almost doubles the length of time that advanced breast cancer can be controlled.”
