From Letterfrack to Apollo House, Dublin City Councilor Mannix Flynn told it as it is on tonight’s Late Late Show.
From horrific beginnings, Mannix came through turmoil to eventually end up winning a seat on Dublin City Council.
The 60-yr-old gave a harrowing account of the brutality his young life endured when thrown into both Letterfrack and Daingean.
He said he has worked through all his psychological problems, including alcoholism, to get to a place where he feels he has reclaimed his life and has achieved a successful acting and art career.
He then spoke about Apollo House where he said it completely failed as a project and that he’s not afraid to say so.
He said it gave certain individuals a political platform but it definitely didn’t succeed because of them as he and many others were helping the homeless far longer than anyone else who jumped on the political platform.
Mannix said he’ll be running in the next general election and hopes the people he represents will give him a chance in the Dail.
