Budget 2018: Social welfare payments to be increased by €5 per week whilst Christmas bonus will return




The Government have confirmed today there will be €5 increase per week on all social welfare payments from next March.

The Minister for Finance Paschal Donohue revealed today that the increase will apply to everyone currently receiving disability allowance, carer’s allowance, Jobseekers’ Allowance and the State pension.

Along with the increase the Government also confirmed the annual Christmas bonus payment of 85% will remain in place this year.

Meanwhile there single parents will be given a €20 increase under the One Parent Family Payment and Jobseekers’ Transitional scheme, whilst parents with three children currently receiving Family Income Supplement will be given an extra €10 per week.

There will also be a €2 per week increase on the qualified child payment, whilst the home carer grant will increased by €100 to €1,200.
