Met Eireann has issued a warning for low temperatures in the run up to the incoming Beast from the East weather event.
The weather is expected to remain notably cold for the next 72 hours, with daytime temperatures barely rising above 7-8C. The thermometer will sink to -2 or -3C after dark, giving rise to severe frost.
Conditions will deteriorate significantly from Monday on, as northerly winds begin to bite, with wintry showers and further snowfalls likely.
