Dangerous weed: Recent heatwave sparks an increase in growth in one of the countries most harmful plants 




Last week’s heatwave was enjoyed by many here and in the UK but the prolonged spell of hot weather may have come at a cost as the high temperatures have sparked the growth of one of the countries deadliest plants.

The dangerous plant that can cause severe pain and even blindness has threived in the recent good weather and has prompted experts to warn the public of its deadly toxins that can cause burns and blisters on anyone who comes into contact with it.

Speaking about the weeds harmful sap a leading River Trust expert in the UK Mike Duddy said: “If you don’t know what the plant is, it’s exceedingly dangerous.”

“It is, without a shadow of a doubt, the most dangerous plant in Britain and Ireland.”

The toxic plant which is rarely unheard of by members of the public can normally be found near bodies of water such as river beds, lakes and reservoirs.

Meanwhile medical experts recommend that anyone who comes into contact with the poisonous plant should immediately cover the infected area and regularly rinse their skin in warm soapy water in order to avoid the possibility of developing severe and highly painful blisters.
