Disgraced paramedic to stand trial after he allegedly stole €2,500 Rolex watch from Sopranos star James Gandolfini as he lay dying on the floor

A disgraced paramedic who allegedly stole a Rolex watch from the wrist of movie and TV star James Gandolfini as he lay dying on the ground, will go on trial in Italy for his shameless crime.

Gandolfini who is best known for his role as Tony Soprano in the U.S. smash hit series The Sopranos’ was disgracefully robbed of his watch when he was battling for his life after he suffered a massive heart attack at his hotel in Rome in June 2013.

Reports say the 51 year old who tragically died as result of his heart attack, was relieved if his valuable watch when he was being taken to a nearby hospital via ambulance.

The accused named Claudio Bevilacqua, 43, will face trial in November after a judge postponed the case today, it is understood Mr Bevilacqua did not appear in court today to enter a formal plea but he will face trial in just under six months time.

Italian prosecutors say Bevilacqua stole the watch during the chaos as paramedics frantically tried to revive Gandolfini. It is also believed that hotel security staff noticed the watch was missing before Gandolfini’s family reported it stolen.
