Both lone parents and pensioners will most likely receive an increase in payments in the upcoming Budget.
The reported increase will come after both the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and the Social Protection Minister Regina Doherty publicly revealed they support the proposed payment increase.
Although the increase to the state pension was reportedly agreed months ago, it is believed that Ms Doherty is keen to implement an increase for single parents who are collecting welfare.
Speaking about the possible increases Ms Doherty said she believes that pensioners will almost certainly receive an increase, but she is hopeful that others will receive an increase particular those who are the most vulnerable in society.
