The telecommunications company Eir has confirmed this evening that there are current over 11,000 customers nationwide without phone, mobile phone and broadband services due to faults caused by storm Ophelia.
Eir say the south, west and midlands are the worst affected areas this evening whilst further outages are expected in other areas throughout the night..
The company say no crews will be able to repair the problems until the morning at the earliest as conditions have hampered roads to the affected areas.
