Former Manchester United and Aberdeen manager Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly awake and sitting up talking to his family.

Although the news has not been confirmed by his family, The Daily Mail newspaper say the former Manchester United is awake following major surgery on his brain.

The news comes after the 76 year old was rushed into hospital over the weekend after suffering a major brain haemorrhage.

The Daily Mail say the legendary manager was taken out of an induced coma on Monday after his treatment pleased doctors at the Salford Royal Hospital.

Meanwhile many tributes have poured in from the footballing world with current and former players and managers wishing the Scotsman a speedy recovery.
