According to reports this morning the Department of Health have confirmed they will conclude negotiations with the drug company who manufacture the cystic fibrosis Orkambi in a number of weeks.
The department say they fully expect a decision regarding lowering the cost of the effective drug in the not too distant future.
The news of the final talks was confirmed over the weekend when the department released the following statement: “The Minister for Health Simon Harris is acutely aware that the last number of months have been a stressful and worrying time for CF patients and their families.”
“The Government’s priority is to achieve the best outcome for Irish patients and the health system overall.”
