Hayfever and asthmatics urged to take extra precautions as pollen count reaches its highest peak

There was some bad news for hayfever and asthmatics as the national forecaster Met Eireann has issued another high pollen count warning for the vast majority of the country.

The latest warning which will remain in place for most of this week, comes after pollen levels peaked in Sunday and Monday.

In announcement made on Monday Met Eireann said parts of Leinster, Ulster and Connacht will experience high pollen counts on Monday and Tuesday, whilst Munster will also see levels rise on Tuesday.

It is believed the latest high level warning, comes as the recent warm and humid weather conditions prompted grass and plant pollen to rise significantly.

High pollen can be particularly irritating to hayfever sufferers as symptoms include, itchy eyes, face swelling, runny nose, sneezing and a sore throat.

Those who suffer from both conditions are advised to take their prescribed medication.
