A grandmother in the US has been taken into custody after her 20-month-old granddaughter was found stabbed to death and baked inside a hot oven.
The sickening crime which occurred in Shaw, Mississippi, on Monday night has now led to a police investigation.
According to local media reports, the tiny infant was tragically discovered baked inside the warm oven by a family member who arrived at the house that evening.
Police investigating the incident say the case has now become a homicide investigation and they are currently trying to determine the exact cause of the infants death.
It is not yet known whether or not if the 20-month-old had died before she was placed inside the hot oven.
The Bolivar County sheriff, revealed that the infant had sustained a number of stab wounds before being placed inside the oven.
They also say the girl’s grandmother has been detained for questioning, although she has not yet been formally charged.
