27-yr-old Paul Healy spoke to Cork’s Red FM radio station about being brutally assaulted on Saturday in Cork City.
Gardai are investigating the attack which left the fighter with serious head and face injuries.
Speaking to Cork’s Red FM from his hospital bed, Paul said: ” I was critical in hospital ā my jaw, cheek bone, eye sockets are broken and two fractures and a brake in my skull with several bleeds on my brain.
” I just want anyone that knows anything to come forward to the guards or locals so that they can be arrested and charged, I am a good young fella and these people who done this need to be stopped.
“I am lucky to be alive.”
He’s said to be in stable condition in hospital but gardai have no direct leads and are appealing for witnesses. They’re reviewing CCTV to see if they can catch the coward who attacked Paul from behind.
