Hurricane Irma is carving a deep path of destruction as it moves across the Caribbean, flattening structures and killing at least nine people so far.
The Caribbean islands of Barbuda and St. Martin have both sustained catastrophic damage, and have been left ‘barely habitable’, according to local sources. Irma, a Category 5 storm, is now heading towards Puerto Rico.
The superstorm is expected to exact a deadly toll across the Caribbean and elsewhere before losing its epic strength.
Irma may make landfall in mainland United States over the weekend, prompting the state of Florida’s Governor to call for evacuations and preparations for the worst.
