Irish Rail reveal that vandals have caused €250,000 worth of damage after spraying trains with graffiti

Management at Irish Rail have revealed that they have been the victims of vandals who have caused €250,000 worth of damage after spraying graffiti on their trains this year.

The company announced the news after they caught a number of people spraying crude artworks on their trains in Inchicore rail works, the company also say those caught have been made to clean up their graffiti as part of their punishment. Irish Rail say the men, from Dublin and Cork, are also required to pay compensation to a security guard who was assaulted. The group will also have to clean up any future acts of graffiti on the Iarnrod Eireann trains over the next six months.

The news of the vandals punishment has been welcomed by Barry Kenny from Irish Rail, who says: “So we’ve been proactively trying to tackle this and these two individuals were caught as part of a sting operation in Inchicore works, so we’re so pleased that the court has treated these acts of vandalism with seriousness and we certainly look forward to welcoming the two vandals up to Inchicore to clean up the acts from other graffiti attacks.”
