Lighting up Christmas: Dublin City Council confirms plans that will see 12 iconic sites being illuminated this coming Christmas




Dublin city centre will be illuminated this coming Christmas as the city council have confirmed plans that will see 12 iconic sites being lit up for 30 days.

In announcement made today Dublin City Council said the lighting spectacular will be so bright that it will be seen from planes landing at Dublin Airport.

The so called ‘Winter Lights Dublin City’ project, will see more than 150,000 bulbs and over 15,000 metres of cables being laid at landmark sites across the city.

Amongst the sites earmarked for the project include City Hall, Liberty Hall, Mansion House and Custom House.

The city council have also confirmed that a number of the city’s historic bridges will be lit up for the festive season including the Millennium Bridge and the Smauel Beckett Bridge.

It is expected that the lighting spectacular will be visible from sunset until 2am throughout the month of December.

Dublin City Council say further details about the project will be announced in the coming days ahead.
