Irish budget airline Ryanair has lost the coveted first place as Europe’s biggest airline, in passenger number terms.
German flagship carrier Lufthansa now tops the list as Europe’s largest airline, having carried 130m passengers last year, to Ryanair’s 129m.
The Irish airline was hurt by rostering problems during 2017, which saw thousands of flights being cancelled.
The Lufthansa group includes Swiss and Austrian airlines.
