A 33 year old man has appeared before Galway District Court after he was charged following a serious assault on a Garda officer on Friday.
Accordinh to RTE News,the man Niall Alvey, with an address at Gleann Dara, Rahoon, Galway city was charged with assault causing harm to the Garda who received two stab wounds to the torso and neck during the incident.
Mr Alvey’s arrest comes as the Garda involved recieved minor injuries during the incident say house in Oranmore on Friday afternoon.
The accused has been remanded in custody to Castlerea Prison and has been ordered to appear in court again next Wednesday.
