Not over yet – Met Eireann claim there’s more snow on the way for the country

Just as around half of the country is getting back on its feet following 5cm of snowfall this past weekend, a Met Eireann forecaster has said that there’s likely to be more snowfall in the coming days.

Met Eireann’s Vincent O’Shea was talking to the the Irish Daily Mirror and told them: “Each night there is a risk of frost and ice.”

O’Shea said that “we are not out of the woods yet” alluding to the fact that much snow is still on high-lying ground. He continued : “We are expecting wintry showers of sleet and snow in the North-West, but not at low levels.

“Connacht and North Ulster will be particularly badly affected.”

“A lot of Ulster will experience sleety showers and there will be a risk of thundery showers.”
