Not reporting for duty: Up to 10,500 Gardaí to undertake strike action on four separate days during November

The Garda Representative Association has confirmed last late that its representatives will undertake strike action on four separate days during November.

The news of the planned strike action comes after the body rejected the latest pay proposal submitted by the Department of Justice. Speaking about the scheduled stoppages the General Secretary of the GRA Pat Ennis said 10,500 gardaí will not be reporting for work on four dates if their pay is not fully restored.

It is understood the large number of officers will forego duties on November 4, 11, 18 and 25. Mr Ennis also told RTE the strike action was not a “blue flu” action, saying: “Members will not be reporting for duty. It’s not any sort of a blue flu action at all.”

Mr Ennis further explained: “The action is a withdrawal of our services until such time as our pay and conditions are addressed appropriately.”
