There’s been online outrage to a disgusting act in Athenry, Co. Galway where 16 puppies were found in a trailer in Athenry, Co. Galway on Tuesday.

Sickeningly, the conditions where the dogs were living have been described as utterly appaling.

The dogs were thankfully rescued after a member of the public heard noises from an abandoned horsebox in Ballydavid area on Tuesday 17 July and tipped off authorities.

It’s understood that Gardai and the local dog warden attended the scene where they found the pups.

The dogs were described as being emaciated and severely dehydrated with a number of them dead in the horsebox.

The dogs were brought to the local animal welfare centre and are being treated there but sadly a further 7 dogs have died since their arrival.

It’s believed that some thug left the dogs there while he was breeding them for illegal sales.
