Over €8m in funding has been allocated for a number of walking and cycling routes across the country.
The funding which was allocated by the Department of Rural and Community Development will see a total of 18 projects being developed across Ireland.
According to RTE News, the funding will see a number of projects being carried out in counties, Wexford, Galway, Mayo, Roscommon and Cork.
It is believed that of the €8.1m funding provided, the Government will fund a total of 80% of all projects with local council authorities providing the remainder of costs.
