Bookies have slashed the odds of Peter Casey becoming President of Ireland.
Casey is now at 10/1 odds to be elected President while Michael D Higgins remains in the lead with odds of 1/33 to be re-elected.
Peter is now down from originally being at 100/1 then 80/1 then 22/1 then suddenly 10/1.
Voting is already underway and after a series of free speech statements from Casey he now has a real chance of being elected today.
The political and media establishment have condemned Casey for his comments and pulled out all the stops to get Higgins another seven years in the Aras. Media pundits and political operators have attempted to stir outrage at Casey over comments on travellers, the EU and deportations.
However, Casey’s common-sense rhetoric has resonated with the ordinary man and woman on the street.
