Gardai have confirmed that a 36-yr-old Co Monaghan man, Seamus Bell has sadly passed away in hospital.
Mr Bell, with an address of Foxfield, Carrickmacross Co Monaghan, died at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda yesterday.
Mr Bell was left in a coma after an alleged assault in January this year.
He had been receiving treatment in hospital since the alleged assault occurred on Main Street, Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan on the 20th of January this year.
A man aged in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the incident and he is currently due to appear before Cloverhill District Court later this month.
