Shocking: New report issued by the Department of the Environment shows that the number of homeless families has risen 76% since the beginning of the year




According to a recent report published by the Department of the Environment it is believed that the number of homeless families has risen by 76% since the beginning of the year.

The latest report comes as a meeting is scheduled to be held later today where top government ministers will discuss the issue. It is believed the report showed that around 400 families were homeless in Ireland at the beginning of the year, it is now thought that figure has now significantly increased to just over 700, marking 76% rise in just eight months.

The report also highlights the fact that there are now almost 1,500 children homeless across the country, the latest figure marks 73% rise since the beginning January. It is also believed the vast majority these homeless families are in the Dublin region and more than half of them are living in hotel accommodation in the capital.
