A police investigation is underway in Ukraine after two parents were charged with neglect and child cruelty after they were found passed out and intoxicated on the side of a city street with their crying infant child at their feet.
The horrifying incident which occurred in the Ukrainian city of Zaporozhye has sent shockwaves across the world after a video and photos of the appalling scene were uploaded on social media.
According to local media reports the young infant was discovered by police officers who were carrying out a routine Street patrol in the city.
It is understood the the young boy was found strapped inside his buggy whilst his parents were lying on makeshift tyre table with a bottle of booze placed beside the baby’s bottle.
Police say they managed to take the young child out of the buggy before they attempted to wake his parents before they passed out again.
Although they did manage to become conscious at a nearby police station they were later sent home without charge by the attending officers.
However a short time later during a routine follow up investigation at the family’s home police decided to arrest the pair and charge them with neglect and child cruelty.
Reports say the toddler has since been placed in protective custody whilst an investigation into the incident is being conducted by police.
