Summer well and truly over, as high winds of 100km/h batter most of the country last night

The country faced a severe change in weather last night as force gale winds winds of 100km/h battered many costal areas.

The sudden change in weather apparently hit the West coast the hardest as the picture above show what effects the extremely miserable weather had for the residents in Salthill in Co Galway. The image above was apparently sent to the Irish Mirror last night to highlight the appalling co conditions in the costal town. The image shows high waves coming in from the Atlantic Ocean and submerging the local promenade in water.

The news comes after Met Eireann issued a yellow status warning yesterday saying that most of the country would receive winds of up 100km/h along with heavy rain throughout the night. I think we can safely say the Irish summer is well and truly over.
