Taoiseach and Donald Tusk preparing for the worst as they will step up no deal Brexit preparations

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has confirmed that he and the European Council President Donald Tusk, have talked about the ongoing Brexit developments.

In an announcement made on Monday, Mr Varadkar said both he and Mr Tusk have ageed to prepare for a scenario were the UK leave the European Union without any deal.

The developments come after Ms May decided to defer a crucial Brexit agreement vote in the House of Commons on Monday.

It is understood that Ms May deferred the vote following growing concerns that her deal with the EU would be voted down in Parliament.

Ms May who is under increased pressure from the DUP and fellow backbenchers to remove the critical Backstop agreement is set to hold a series of talks with European counterparts in the hope to assure that the backstop is only temporary.

The British PM will however have little room to maneuver as the EU have stated that the current agreement will not be re-negotiated.
