Taoiseach: “I fully expect to see 50,000 jobs created in 2016”

The Taoiseach and Fine Gael party leader Enda Kenny has said that he fully expects to see 50,000 new jobs being created next year.

Mr Kenny’s comments come after the latest Government figures have found that over 1,000 new jobs were being created each week during 2015. The Taoiseach along with the Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton have said that whilst a lot has been achieved in 2015, there’s still a lot more to be done and there is no room for complacency.

Mr Bruton said: ā€œI think the one lesson that we have learnt is that what small open economies must do is be continually creating a competitive edge for themselves, in their marketplaces, and that requires continually investing in skills, in innovation, in the quality of enterprise in the smartness of Government.ā€
