Taoiseach to begin replacement search after May bank holiday

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny will reportedly enable the process to name his successor this coming May bank holiday weekend.

The news of Mr Kenny’s decision comes after he revealed that he fully expects to be in charge when the first meeting of the European Council convenes to trigger article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty which will allow Britain to leave the Eu.

Speaking in the Dáil recently Mr Kenny said that he will be in attendance for the first European Council summit on March 29th.

The Taoiseach also revealed he will also reconvene with the council on Saturday, April 29th.

However a number of Fine Gael ministers believe once those particular issues are resolved Mr Kenny will then formally enable the process that will begin the search for his successor.
