The biggest earthquake to hit our region of the world struck off Southwest England yesterday afternoon with tremors measuring some 4.4 magnitude.
Luckily there was no damage done to anyone or any property but it was felt some 20km away in the Welsh city of Swansea.
Like Ireland, earthquakes are very uncommon in the UK but they did have an earthquake in Market Rasen in the northeast of England in 2008 and that measured some 5.2 – which eqautes to some 16 times stronger than yesterday’s.
Authorities have said that if anyone feels any tremors, aftershocks or new quakes to get under a table and stay there until they pass.
