A young boy has lost his fight for life after three teenagers, (two boys and one girl) came into difficulty in water in Kildare.
The incident happened in the Lyreen river near the Kilcock Road, Maynooth, at approximately 4 pm earlier this evening.
One of the boys managed to climb to safety and alert emergency services.
All three youths were taken to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin.
Sadly one of the boys passed away a short time later and was pronounced dead in the hospital.
The other boy and girl are said to be recovering and not in a serious condition.
