Treatment at last – Brave Cork Girl’s mum Vera Twomey reveals that her daughter Ava will begin receiving treatment today




The woman who campaigned long and hard in order to get her young daughter much needed medicinal cannabis treatment, Vera Twomey has revealed that her 7 year old daughter Ava will being treatment today.

Mrs Twomey who came to the attention of the nation last March by holding a protest walk from her home in Cork to Dail Eireann in Dublin, recently revealed in a Facebook video message that little Ava will finally get her cannabis oil treatment today in the Netherlands.

The brave Cork woman who had a number of meetings here including one with the Minister for Health Simon Harris was unable to convince the HSE nor the Government to provide the revolutionary treatment for her daughter Ava who suffers from a rare form of ellipse called Dravet Syndrome.

In the recent video which was uploaded to Facebook earlier​ this week the determined mum has revealed that Dutch medical professionals are “confused and appalled” that the treatment is not available for a patient like Ava in Ireland.

Mrs Twomey who raised over €21,000 to take little Ava to the Netherlands posted the following video to inform her and Ava’s supporters of how they were getting on.
