United Airlines stock takes a hammering after airline’s rough handling of passenger on overbooked flight

The value of United Airlines stock plummeted in the wake of the well-publicized incident where a passenger was forcibly ejected off an overbooked flight.

Over $800m were wiped out of the company’s stock as the markets reacted to the violent incident.

Footage recorded by other passengers emerged, showing a group of airport police forcibly removing a passenger from an overbooked flight. The passenger appeared to be unconscious as he was being dragged down the aisle and off the plane.

He was seen back in the plane some time later, with his face bloodied, and stumbling on his feet.

Social media erupted in a firestorm of criticism over the incident.
