It got pretty cold this weekend but it’s nothing compared to what expert forecasters have predicted the winter of 2017 will be for Ireland and the UK.
They claim November will get a brisk cold snap that will lead into December where severe winds from the North pole will descend over the UK and Ireland causing heavy coverings of snowfall.
Forecasters in the UK say the expected cold snap which will last right into the new year will bring snow, ice and frost as temperatures are expected to drop as low as -11C.
They also say that this coming winter could potentially be one of the worst on record as Artic winds will bring bitterly cold conditions similar the snow that Ireland saw in December 2010.
This week’s temperatures will rise from the weekend and head back up towards double figures.
