Met Eireann have said that temperatures are about to get even colder as the winter really takes hold.
Heavy showers are expected tonight, starting from the east for prolonged times and moving eastwards.
The national forecaster said:
“Top temperatures around 7C to 9C generally, but just 4C to 6C in the north.
“Fresh and gusty southeasterly winds will moderate as the rain clears the east and north and elsewhere winds will be light to moderate southwesterly.”
“There will be good clear spells and it will be cold with lowest temperatures falling to between 0C and +3C and some frost in places.
“Southerly winds will fall light with some mist or fog patches forming.”
The weekend’s temperatures look like they’ll rise slightly as the days go on.
