It’s time to put on the extra warm jumpers because winter is finally here. Temperatures are dropping to an extra cold -5c over the weekend.
We may have had a very easy Autumn as far as warm temperatures were concerned, but it appears Winter is finally here.
Met Eireann have predicted snow showers for the west and northwest of the country thanks to a blast of Arctic air.
Freezing gales and blasts of wintry downfalls are forecast from this morning until Sunday.
Met Eireann say:
“There will be some sunny spells but it will be mostly cloudy with heavy rain, hail or sleet showers.
“It’ll be rather cold, with highest temperatures of only 4C to 8C in fresh to strong west to north west winds.”
On Friday, there will be some “heavy wintry showers” over parts of the north and north west.
Temperatures will again reach between 4C and 7C during the day, but will fall to a chilly -1C overnight.
