Gardai have confirmed this morning that a boy aged in his teens has died after he got into difficulty on Monday evening.
It’s understood the boy was swimming with his friend at Sutton beach in North County Dublin when he got into difficulty around 7:30pm.
The coast guard was called to the scene where the boy was airlifted to Beaumont and subsequently rushed to Temple St where sadly he passed away a short time later.
His friend was pulled from the water by members of the public and coast guard members.
It’s understood a liaison officer is with the boy’s family today.
