A man and a woman in their 40s have been arrested by Gardai investigating a vicious assault in Waterford City, last Wednesday night.
The victim, a man in his 50’s was found lying on Hanover Street between O’Connell Street and the Quay at approximately 8.50pm. He was bleeding heavily from his head and was brought to University Hospital Waterford.
According to WLR, following a forensic examination of the area, a man and a woman in their 40s were arrested. The man has been charged while the woman has been released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecution.
Names of the alleged attackers have not yet been released by Gardai.
The victim is in a serious but stable condition.
