A family and community coming to terms with the killing of Detective Garda Colm Harkan just three years ago has been plunged into further grief by the sudden death of the officer’s brother Aidan, reports The Mirror.

Aidan, who was in his 50s, has been employed in various roles in the Charlestown area of Co. Mayo since returning from the United States, where he worked for a time.

Aidan Harkan’s death has sparked a new wave of grief in his city and beyond.

Burial will take place tomorrow (Monday) from 17:00 at the funeral home run by the Aidan Harkan family. Jacob until 7:30 pm, before proceeding to the local church.

He will be buried Tuesday at Charlestown Cemetery, reports The Mirror.
