?BREAKING: Woman who was holding sign that caused massive crash at the Tour de France has been arrested

The Tour de France organisers announced at the weekend that they are suing a spectator, after they caused a massive accident with German cyclist Tony Martin colliding with a sign posted by a fan looking at a television camera and not looking at the race coming towards her.

The spectator, who is female, has been arrested this afternoon with French police saying she could be facing a year in prison if she’s found guilty in court. She also faces a possible €15,000 fine.

The viewer’s cardboard sign read “Allez Opi-Omi” (Come on grandad-granny, in a mix of French and German).

The incident caused chaos with 21 cyclists injured in subsequent collisions, leaving 47 km of the 198 km stage from Brest to the Landerneaustage.
