A 13-yr-old boy has entered a not guilty plea to charges of sexually abusing a girl of the same age at a Dublin supermarket lavatory, reports The Mirror.
The 15-yr-old youngster had to attend a preliminary hearing to determine the location of his trial.
Instead of the Circuit Court, which has more extensive sentencing authority, the DPP ordered that the matter be handled in the Children’s Court. Judge Paul Kelly agreed with the DPP and accepted jurisdiction for the matter to stay in the juvenile court after hearing a summary of the accusations.
The Garda According to Jessica Hargadan, the event occurred in March 2023 when the girl and the boy, who were acquainted, spent time together, reports The Mirror.
They went inside a Dublin shop so she could go to the restroom.
When she emerged from the lavatory, the accused youngster allegedly waited outside, shoved her into a baby changing room, took off her jacket, pulled up her top, “asked her to engage in oral sex,” licked her breasts and touched her knickers.
“She repeatedly said ‘no,'” the court heard, reports The Mirror.
It lasted about one and a half minutes, according to Judge Kelly, and terminated when the girl walked out of the room.
The boy indicated it was consenting, according to defence barrister counsel Doireann McDonagh, reports The Mirror.
