The 19 year old student who was studying at the University of Limerick tragically died when she suffered severe head injuries after falling down the stairs at a student accommodation September 2017.

According to RTE, Sophie Coll from Galway was studying International Business Studies at the time of her death, when was she and a group of friends were on a stairwell in the student accommodation when one of them fell causing a so-called domino effect where they all fell and Sophie tragically hit her head on the tiled Hall floor.

An inquest has found that she suffered a fracture to a skull causing traumatic brain injuries and Tragedy she never recovered.

The young woman died the next day at the University Hospital in Limerick and an inquest yesterday heard that an ambulance called to the scene after 40 minutes because it had to come from Nenagh in County Tipperary.

It’s understood that the lengthy time for the ambulance to make its way to the accident was not a barrier to Sophie’s death, tragically it’s been recorded as a verdict of an accidental death.

It’s understood that Sophie’s parents decided to donate Sophie’s organs.
