There were 280 incidents involving collisions and close calls with ambulances over a two-year span, reports Breaking News.
Records from 2023 and 2024 provided by the National Ambulance Service include an unusual case where a masked individual on a scrambler bike weaved through traffic, struck an ambulance, and fled the scene without stopping, according to the Herald.
Ambulances have also sustained damage in encounters with animals, including deer and, surprisingly, a group of racing pigeons, reports Breaking News.
In one particularly strange case, an ambulance was damaged after a trailer released a flock of racing pigeons on a motorway ramp.
Incident reports from 2023 and 2024 show that, in several situations, ambulance crews were unable to stop due to being en route to emergencies or while transporting critically ill patients, reports Breaking News.
