The people of Ireland continue on their defiance against the imposition of water charges.

Hundreds of people demonstrated peacefully against water charges, and also called for the release of the five protesters who were jailed for contempt of court earlier this month.

Those taking part in today’s gathering met in the outskirts of Killarney before marching to the location where the Labour Party conference is taking place this weekend.

Elsewhere, another protest took place in Dublin today. A large group marched from the GPO on O’Connell Street to Mountjoy Prison, where the prisoners are being held.

Participants said they will march every week until their fellow protesters are released.
