A four-year-old boy in the Netherlands took his mumā€™s car for a joyride in his pyjamas and fortunately escaped injury when he crashed it into two parked cars.

According to the Metro, the boy, who hasnā€™t been named, took the keys, unlocked the car and headed off for a drive.Ā  When he crashed the car, he simply climbed out and walked off in his bare feet.

He was seen by a member of the public who then called the police.Ā  After that, he was taken to a police station and given hot chocolate and a teddy bear.Ā  He was able to call his mother and was said to have made a ā€œsteering wheel movementā€ while he was speaking to her.

This was enough for police to go on, and they were able to track down his mum when they received a report of an abandoned car that was registered in her name.

Later on they wrote about the little boy on their Instagram page, describing how they asked the child at the car whether he could show them how it worked:

ā€˜The child opened the car with the key and put the key in the ignition. He started the car, moved his left foot to the clutch and hit the gas.ā€

Fortunately no-one was hurt in the incident but itā€™s probably fair to say that his mum wonā€™t be leaving her car keys lying around the house again.
