A woman has been charged with the murder of her elderly mother in the capital.
The body of a woman aged in her 70s, named Mary Bergin was discovered at her home on First Avenue, just off Seville Place, in north Dublin city centre on Wednesday morning.
Moire Bergin, 45, from the same address, appeared this morning at Dublin District Court.
Detective Sergeant John Brady of the Store Street Garda Station told the court that Ms. Bergin was charged shortly after 1am from this morning.
RTE report that Ms Bergin’s solicitor Catherine Dowling, filed several petitions in court on behalf of her client.
Judge Conal Gibbons ordered Moire Bergin to undergo medical and psychiatric treatment. He has also granted a request for legal assistance.
There was no bail request and Moire Bergin was taken into custody to appear in court again on 21 April.
